    Who is funded? (Eligible to apply)
    • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) 
    • Large enterprises 
    • Research institutions 
    • Legal entities in small joint projects with a maximum of five partners 

    The instrument is open to all types of institutions, such as industry (SMEs and large companies), colleges and universities or non-university research institutions. However, at least 60% of the total budget must be earmarked for industrial partners or a minimum number of industrial partners must be involved. In specific terms, this means that if there are three or four partners, at least two partners must come from industry, and if there are five partners, at least three must come from industry. 

    What is funded? (Purpose)
    • For market-oriented, business-driven projects, the topic is open 
    • There is a preference for projects with interdisciplinary, transsectoral approaches 
    • Products are to be launched 3 years after the start of the RTI project. 
    The funding is granted, in what amount? (The type and amount of support)

    Grant 

    • Maximum funding amount per project: €3 million 
    • Funding rate of 70% for SMEs and large enterprises 
    • The funding rate is 70% of costs eligible for receiving funding for private, for-profit organisations and 100% for non-profit organisations. Funding is limited to a maximum of €3 million per project. Criteria for the selection of applications are impact (weighted more heavily), quality, efficiency of implementation and excellence.
