Further training provided by public and private institutions on a full or part-time basis that prepares participants for specific examinations under public law in accordance with the Vocational Training Act or the Crafts Code or equivalent qualifications under federal or state law.

The intended professional qualification must be beyond the level of a skilled worker, journeyman or qualified assistant or a leaving certificate from a vocational school/technical college. This means a completed qualification from an initial training programme is often a prerequisite for admission to the continuing education/advanced training examination. Programmes eligible for funding include master craftsperson coursework or comparable coursework (a total of more than 700 continuing education/advanced training certifications are offered).
Grant combined with loans.
Partial funding up to a maximum of €15,000 for course and examination fees.
Grants and loans for living expenses are paid depending on the familial status of the participant.
Single parents receive an additional childcare allowance.
